Lynyrd Skynyrd
Lynyrd Skynyrd‘s Freebird is one of the most well known rock anthems ever! I haven’t included it in this playlist simply because it is so popular. They have tunes which are even better! NOTABLE TRACKS
The Devil Went Down to Georgia
Charlie Daniels came out with this tune at the end of the 80s and it got a lot of radio play. This is one of those tunes where it is very easy to remember the lyrics and to sing along with it.
Tuff Enuff
This tune is not part of the Southern Rock genre but it was a big hit for The Fabulous Thunderbirds in the late 80s and they are a southern band. I never got to see them live, but I was in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1990 when they were playing a bar. That particular bar was a converted house and had a stage in the backyard. I did drive around Corpus Christi and parked next to that bar to listen to a few tunes and did hear them play Tuff Enuff. The lead singer of The Fabulous Thunderbirds is Jimmy Vaughan who is the brother of the amazing Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV).
